Twitter Tips

Each month David Lomas of M3 Publishing is going to provide some answers to 'twitter' questions and one or two small tips about how you can make twitter work for your business.

Check out below, this month's twitter tips and answers...

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a what we call a “Microblog”

It is similar to a blog (which is effectively a web-based notice board) but the Twitter service limits the number of characters you can type when posting your message.
This is actually so you can send or receive twitter messages over your mobile phone (logical really?)
This feature makes Twitter far more usable for many more people than other social media services.

Your challenge is to say something meaningful in only 140 characters (even more tricky for some of us!).

Pick a relevant Twitter name

Always set your Twitter account up with your 'real name'.

However, if your intention is to use Twitter for business purposes, then your 'Twitter name' should illustrate what business you are involved in.

For example: My Twitter name is e_magazines_uk,  but when I make contact with other people on twitter, they will also see my real name - David Lomas.

This means I do have a 'real personality' for any one who finds me, but through my descriptive 'twitter name' I can show a 'relevance' to what they may be looking for. This will help other users to find and respond to your messages or 'tweets'.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any questions please send me a message on twitter
